If the idea of getting married in a beige ballroom with beige chairs under beige chandeliers makes you want to run for the hills, welcome. You’re in the right place.
Seattle has some seriously incredible wedding venues, especially if you’re looking for something a little weird, colorful, artistic, moody, outdoorsy, industrial, or just completely different from the traditional wedding venue.
As a Seattle wedding videographer, I’ve filmed hundreds of weddings over the years, and some of my favorite days have happened in spaces that already have a personality of their own. The kind of venue where you walk in and immediately start imagining what your wedding could look like there.
So if you’re planning a wedding in Seattle or the Pacific Northwest and want a venue that actually feels like you, these are some of my favorites.
Best for: Maximalists, vintage lovers, queer weddings, dinner-party energy, and couples who want their venue to be anything but boring.
The vibe: Eclectic, theatrical, colorful, intimate, romantic and wonderfully weird.
The Ruins is one of those places that almost doesn’t feel real the first time you walk inside. Every room has its own personality, with bold colors, chandeliers, artwork, vintage furniture, dramatic details and plenty of unexpected little corners.
This venue doesn’t need to be transformed into something interesting because it already IS super interesting!!!
That makes it especially fun for couples who want a wedding that feels more like an elaborate dinner party or secret club than a traditional ballroom reception.
From a filmmaking perspective, I LOVE venues that give me layers to work with, and The Ruins has them everywhere. Instead of every shot having the same white wall behind it, you can move through the venue and create completely different looks throughout the day.
It’s weird. It’s romantic. It’s dramatic. It has personality.
It understands the assignment!!!

Best for: Downtown Seattle weddings, industrial style, big parties, bold decor and couples who want a blank canvas without choosing a boring blank box.
The vibe: Industrial, modern, urban and completely customizable.
Block 41 is right in Belltown, which immediately gives you something I love for Seattle weddings: the city becomes part of the wedding.
Inside, you get exposed brick, concrete, huge windows and an industrial feel that can go in almost any direction. Bring in colorful florals and disco balls. Make it moody and romantic. Go completely minimalist. Build an absolute PARTY.
And then step outside and you’re surrounded by downtown Seattle for portraits and video.
Block 41 is especially great on video because you get contrast. You can have emotional, intimate moments inside and then walk outside for completely different footage surrounded by Seattle.
It also looks so good once the lights go down and the dance floor gets going.

Best for: Art lovers, modern weddings, downtown celebrations and couples who want a venue their guests will actually remember.
The vibe: Artistic, modern, bold and unmistakably Seattle.
Getting married inside an art museum is already pretty damn cool.
The Seattle Art Museum gives you something completely different from the typical Seattle wedding venue because the artwork and architecture become part of the experience. You’re hosting your wedding inside one of Seattle’s major cultural spaces.
And because you’re right downtown, you can pair the museum with city portraits, hotels, Pike Place, waterfront views or whatever version of Seattle feels most like you.
Kurt & Dan’s wedding here is such a good example of why I love weddings in interesting spaces.
For wedding films, locations with strong architecture, artwork, movement and texture give me so much more to build a visual story around. SAM ends up being a part of your story and that’s pretty freaking cool.

Best for: Couples who want Seattle views without having a traditional waterfront hotel wedding.
The vibe: Nautical, historic, intimate and quintessentially Seattle.
Yes, you can get married on a boat. (I’m on a boat aaaaaand I’m goin’ fast aaaaaaaand!)
The MV Skansonia is a historic ferry permanently docked on Lake Union, which means you get the character of an old Seattle ferry along with waterfront and skyline views.
For couples bringing guests in from out of town, this is also one of those venues that immediately gives them a sense of place.
You’re not having a wedding that could be in Seattle.
You’re having a very Seattle wedding.
Water + skyline + interesting architecture is basically a cheat code for wedding video.
The changing light throughout the day gives everything a completely different feeling as you move from ceremony into sunset and reception.
And having Seattle itself in the background means you don’t need to leave your venue to make your film actually feel like Seattle.

Best for: Plant people, garden weddings, colorful celebrations and couples who want nature without driving hours outside Seattle.
The vibe: Lush, relaxed, playful and naturally beautiful.
The UW Center for Urban Horticulture is one of my favorite answers to couples who love the idea of a garden wedding but still want to stay in Seattle.
There is greenery everywhere, beautiful outdoor spaces and plenty of room to create something that feels relaxed rather than overly formal.
It’s especially great if you’re the kind of couple who would rather be surrounded by plants than chandeliers.
Nathalie & Harry’s wedding here is exactly why I love this venue.
Greenery creates such a beautiful backdrop on film, but what I really love is how much movement you can get. Walking through gardens, wind moving through trees, people gathering outside, little candid moments happening throughout the property.
It feels alive.

Best for: Intimate weddings, wine lovers, modern design and couples who want something romantic without feeling overly traditional.
The vibe: Modern, moody, warm and intimate.
Almquist Family Winery gives you the romantic winery feeling without having to leave Seattle.
The space has a clean, modern look that works beautifully for couples who want something elevated but still relaxed. It’s particularly great for weddings where dinner, conversation and spending actual time with your people are a huge part of the day.
I love intimate venues because they change the way a wedding film feels.
People are physically closer together. Reactions happen right behind you. Speeches feel more personal. The entire room feels connected.
Those little interactions are often the stuff that ends up becoming my favorite footage.

Best for: Romantic weddings, garden lovers, wine-country vibes and couples who want to feel like they’ve escaped Seattle without actually going very far.
The vibe: Lush, romantic, elegant and a little European.
Okay, technically we’re leaving Seattle for Woodinville with this one, but Chateau Lill absolutely deserves a spot on this list.
The property is gorgeous, with gardens, greenery, water, wine-country scenery and a chateau that makes the whole thing feel like you’ve traveled much farther than you actually have.
It’s romantic without feeling like a giant hotel ballroom, which is probably why I like it so much.
Maddy & Sahil had a two-day celebration, and Chateau Lill gave us a completely different visual world to play in.
This is one of those venues where you can wander for portraits and keep discovering new backgrounds. That’s incredibly valuable for photo and video because your entire gallery or film doesn’t look like it happened in one spot.

Best for: Couples who want forest, barn and Pacific Northwest scenery without sacrificing space for a giant party.
The vibe: Woodsy, rustic, relaxed and very PNW.
Heading north toward Snohomish opens up an entirely different category of wedding venues.
Machias Meadows is a great option if you want trees, open space and that classic Pacific Northwest outdoor feeling while still having a venue designed to actually host a wedding.
This is for the couples who want their wedding to feel like a weekend in the woods rather than a night downtown.
Forested venues are some of my favorites to film because the environment immediately becomes part of the story.
Wide shots actually mean something. You can see where you are.
And when that late-afternoon PNW light starts coming through the trees?
GORGE!!!!!

Best for: Forest fairytale weddings, whimsical couples and anyone who has ever said, “Can we just get married in the woods?”
The vibe: Whimsical, intimate, forested and a little magical.
If your dream wedding involves being surrounded by towering trees, Vashon Island deserves your attention.
Woodland Gardens has the kind of environment that doesn’t need much explaining. You’re immersed in greenery, surrounded by nature and removed from the feeling of being in the middle of a city.
It’s especially good for couples who want the experience of their wedding to feel like an adventure for their guests.
I will choose an interesting environment over a perfectly polished ballroom almost every time.
Places like Woodland Gardens give a wedding film a sense of place. You hear the trees. You see people walking through the property. You get wide shots that make you feel tiny.
That’s the good stuff.

There are way too many interesting wedding venues around Seattle to fit into one list.
If none of the venues above quite feel like you, I’d also look at spaces like Fremont Foundry, WithinSodo, Georgetown Ballroom, Olympic Rooftop Pavilion, KEXP, Axis Pioneer Square and some of the smaller restaurants, breweries, theaters and event spaces scattered throughout Seattle.
And don’t be afraid to look outside traditional wedding venues entirely.
Some of the most memorable weddings I’ve filmed have happened because a couple chose a space they genuinely loved instead of a venue they thought they were supposed to choose.
Ignore Instagram for five minutes.
Seriously.
Instead, think about what you want it to feel like when you walk into your wedding.
Do you want everyone packed onto a dance floor under disco balls?
Do you want dinner outside under the trees?
Do you want to wander downtown Seattle with your wedding party?
Do you want dramatic artwork behind you?
Do you want your guests saying, “Where the hell did you FIND this place?”
Start there.
Your venue affects almost everything else about your wedding: your decor, timeline, photography, video, guest experience and even how the day itself feels.
The coolest wedding venue is that it’s the one that makes sense for the two of you.
Hi, I’m Rebecca, the filmmaker behind Rebecca Lynn Films.
I film weddings throughout Seattle, the Pacific Northwest and wherever else my couples drag me. My favorite weddings are the ones with personality: weird traditions, ridiculous dance floors, queer joy, unconventional venues, nostalgic camcorder footage, emotional vows and couples who aren’t particularly interested in doing things just because they’re “supposed to.”
If you’re looking for a Seattle wedding videographer who wants your film to actually feel like you, you can check out more of my Seattle wedding films, learn about my wedding videography packages, or reach out and tell me what you’re planning.
And if your venue isn’t on this list?
Even better. Show me somewhere new!
