Melanie and Lyndsay’s wedding at The Ruins was everything I love about filming weddings in Seattle: wildly personal, full of emotion, and completely uninterested in following anyone else’s rules. From an intimate ceremony inside one of Seattle’s most eclectic venues to drag performances, a hidden speakeasy, and a late-night Capitol Hill afterparty, this day just kept getting better.
A Wedding at The Ruins in Seattle
Melanie and Lyndsay’s wedding at The Ruins in Seattle was one for the books. Vintage, emotional, electric, and unapologetically them. This hidden gem of a venue, tucked into the heart of Seattle, set the stage with its eclectic charm, moody lighting, and artistic elegance. Every corner of The Ruins felt alive with color, laughter, and love.
The Ruins was made for a celebration like this. Moody, colorful, vintage, and a little unexpected, the space gave every part of the day a completely different feeling, from the intimate dining room ceremony to an absolutely electric reception in the ballroom.
Considering this venue for your own wedding? I put together a deeper look at why The Ruins is one of my favorite LGBTQ+ friendly wedding venues in Seattle, including more about the spaces, speakeasy, and Melanie & Lyndsay’s celebration.
Their day was full of emotion from start to finish. It began with a tear-filled first look, followed by personal vows that had everyone, myself included, crying and laughing through the entire ceremony. Their love radiated warmth, authenticity, and pure joy.
After the ceremony in the intimate dining room, guests flooded into the grand ballroom for a celebration featuring stunning drag performances, a packed dance floor, and enough energy to light up all of Seattle.
The night kept unfolding like a movie, a moody escape to the venue’s hidden speakeasy, a bubble-filled grand exit, and a limo ride through the city with the Space Needle glowing in the distance. But of course, it didn’t end there. The newlyweds and their crew headed to Capitol Hill for an afterparty that only Seattle could deliver, complete with drinks at The Wild Rose, laughs at The Unicorn, and late-night Voodoo Doughnuts to top it off.
This day was so much more than a wedding, it was a celebration of love, art, community, and pride. Melanie & Lyndsay’s love story is a reminder that being your authentic self is the most beautiful thing in the world. Cheers to these two and many more years to come!
